In Residence Program
InnovOak’s "In Residence Program" is meant to be a specialized and meaningful volunteer opportunity that goes far beyond a career day or show and tell. Individuals that have been vetted by the principal and who have specialized skills or unique experiences can be considered for this program. These “ In Residents” do not have to be parents or grandparents at InnovOak. They can be colleagues, neighbors, or even a vetted outside contact.
Our In Residence Program supports the forward thinking focus on preparing students for a life after graduation and helping them build the fundamental LifeREADY Comprehesive Skills as well
We are hoping to inspire and educate students in ways that extend far beyond a typical classroom visit. The commitment can be as much or as little as your voluntter time allows. Some will do a 1-2 sessions and others will regularly visit over weeks and months, depending on time, student interests, and the ideas presented
As one of our “In Residence” Mentors, you will take students through a series of lessons, workshops and immersive experiences. This could involve role playing real situations, taking students into your work environments or engaging them in hands-on activities. Keep in mind that students often find that workplaces have a “coolness factor”.
These sessions are supported by our teachers to ensure the focus and lesson development will create a positive learning experience for each student. It will allow each “Resident Expert” to have a satisfying and positive time interacting with our students.
By sharing our expertice in learning and teaching, we help you to make this a rewarding experience for volunteer time!
Stemming from past collaborations with Communitech and driven by the paying it forward spirit of local tech startups, this program is not only about giving back but also about fostering broad learning experiences. Whether it's a tech-savvy parent, an artistic grandparent, a musical friend, a scientific mentor, a mathematical genius, or anyone in between, the program welcomes diverse talents and encourages new opportunities.
Interested individuals should contact the principal directly to discuss your interest and the opportunities they present to our students
Depending on the ideas and activities, there may be a interest in having parental sessions as well. We have many dedicated parent and grandparent professionals with a diverse set of skills and experiences that would be of interest to our students and our parents.
We know that interest in this program will grow in scope and excitement as our school community grows. If you feel that you have something interesting or unique to share, then this opportunity may be worth considering.
