Lunch Routines
All students are encouraged to pack (or take advantage of InnovOak Lunch Program) and enjoy a healthy lunch. Teachers will work with students to have them take an interest and become responsible in planning and packing for the school day, including snacks and lunch when appropriate. The following are the expectations we have for students during the lunch:
All student will eat in their own classroom or in a communal space (when possible) and be supervised during the eating time
Students eat in their designated area, in an appropriate manner until dismissed
Normal conversation is permitted but yelling and excessive noise is not
Students are expected to be tidy and to clean up their tables’ garbage and to dispose of it in the container when dismissed
To ensure a calm environment, students are asked to remain in their designated space and ensure they allow others to enjoy their lunch as well
To manage the washrooms in the school effectively, students are asked to request to leave the room for a washroom break. This ensures supervision staff can monitor washroom demand effectively
Students are dismissed at the appropriate dismissal time. This may be later on inclement weather days
On the off chance there are behavioral issues, a student may be moved to another less disruptive space
Students must not be in the halls or in any other classroom other than those assigned for eating
During the non-eating portion, students are expected to be with the supervision teacher and within eyesight as the teacher is instructed to be on proximal supervision and everyone should be working together to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience
Food Delivery
Food Services are now operating for hot lunches from PreSchool to Grade 12. Students have an option to purchase meals through the website and they are delivered to the student directly. To support this program and the local business that we have chosen to partner with, we do not usually let students order food from the school. In some circumstances, food may be ordered, but it does require school permission. Food is not ordered during instructional time, and should be done by parents at home.
The drop off of food is treated the same way as if the parent made the delivery and it is done at the office. Students should not be monitoring, tracking, and focused on food deliveries or ordering during school learning time. This is why we ask parents to make these arrangements separately.
InnovOak will bring any orders delivered to the classroom but cannot guarantee the delivery or freshness of food or delivery on time.
Students should not expect to rely on food delivery on a regular basis and work out routines and plans to order from the school lunch menu or bring an appropriate meal from home. Both of these options promote healthy lifestyle as well
