InnovOak School Internship Program

Our school selectively provides students with unique and meaningful opportunities to gain real-world experience and excel in their chosen fields. This is a competitive and unique program that requires significant commitment from both senior school leaders, industry partners, parents, and students for success. Not everyone will chosen and your Guidance Coach would be the best place to begin these discussions.

Program Overview:

Unlike traditional cooperative education programs offered in Ontario public schools, InnovOak School does not offer a generic co-op program. We believe that simply accumulating credits is not enough to prepare students for their future careers. Instead, we offer a university-style internship experience that focuses on providing sophisticated and meaningful learning experiences.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Maintain a minimum academic average of 80 percent.

• Be in Grade 10 or 11 (for admissions to Grade 11 and 12 school years)

• Registered and fully committed for the next school year as a returning student

• No outstanding academic issues.

• Prior attention given to being ready for the process – resume, cover letter, LinkedIn etc.

• Obtain a recommendation from both your homeroom teacher and guidance coach.

• Successfully pass an initial interview screening conducted by the Principal and Senior Leadership Team.

• Demonstrate a sincere interest and dedication to a specific field of study.

  • Have a clearly defined post-secondary path and actively pursue acceptance into relevant institutions.

  • Be prepared to engage in the application process, including mock interviews and a rigorous acceptance evaluation.

  • Commit to an unpaid Summer internship experience, which will offer exposure to new opportunities and relationships, likely in a junior capacity.

  • Embrace a growth mindset and be open to learning from experiences provided by the mentor company.

• Possess the requisite skills and qualifications for the internship placement.

Internship Experience:

InnovOak School leverages its connections with local tech and professional industries to provide students with high-quality internship placements. These placements are tailored to each student's interests and academic goals. The internship experience is designed to occur during the summer term, from July to August, allowing students to immerse themselves fully in their chosen field and gain valuable hands-on experience.
