Contacting My Student During the School Day
We are happy to assist a parent who needs to reach his/her child, in an emergency, during the school day. In most cases it is preferable for us to pass on the message to the child in between classes or at break. Due to the volume of phone calls within the school, we request that appointments and after school activities are arranged before coming to school in the morning. We ask for your consideration due to the fact that the school office is very busy, and there always is the possibility that a non-essential message may not reach the student within your requested timeframe.
With a teacher’s permission and/or permission from the office, students may use a telephone to make “essential” calls. With call display on home phones we find that we sometimes get calls to the office asking the purpose of a call home (because of call display). Teachers and school staff will always leave a message if contact is important.
We ask that a student cell phone is not used during the school day for Primary, Junior, and Middle school students. Please do not text your child if you are expecting them to respond during the school day and as we are asking them to focus on their learning.
